This platform is designed to allow everyone involved in a dispute to easily access the information in a convenient and timely manner.
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) is a tool provided by the court for small claims case participants –
plaintiffs, defendants and/or attorneys - to negotiate and possibly settle their case without the need
to appear in court. While using ODR, each party or attorney has the option of requesting the assistance
of an online, neutral mediator during the negotiations.
Parties can use ODR at their convenience – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – using their smartphone, tablet, or computer.
ODR will likely take less time and expense than going to court.
If an agreement is reached and properly filed, parties will not need to appear for their Pretrial Conference.
There is no cost for ODR or mediation.
The mediators who assist participants are Florida Supreme Court Certified mediators.
Either party may request the assistance of a mediator at any time while using ODR.
Using this platform, the mediator interacts online directly with the case participants and helps them create a resolution to their case.
Mediation staff oversees the ODR program. They will assist participants in the process as needed.
Because ODR is a process separate from the court, specific details about negotiations are not made available to the court staff.
Only when both case participants officially sign a finalized agreement will the court staff be able to view the resolution.
